The third Printempo concert features the violinist Léo Marillier, who will play works by Bach, Bartok, Prokofiev and Schoenberg, in collaboration with pianist Takuya Otaki. Bach’s Musical Offering flows out of its creator like a crowd of labyrinths, each of the canons being one, and it is up to the performer to find his way. Similarly, Bartok’s second sonata seems to tell the story of the birth of dance, the fruit of a profound meditation that we continuously follow, divided between the science of invention and the freedom of the body. Schoenberg’s fantasy is the composer’s last instrumental work, originally conceived for solo violin (Marillier’s version) and describes the last fires of a Vienna inherited from Freud and Klimt. Prokofiev’s first concerto follows all the evocations and suggestions of a dream. Both narrative and elliptical in character, the harmonic richness equals only the means of virtuosity employed to create incredible beauty.

Biographies
At the crossroads between Russian, French and American schools, 22-year-old violinist Léo Marillier, was first trained by the Belarusian violinist Larissa Kolos at the CRR in Paris, before entering the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris at the age of 15 in Alexis Galpérine’s studio, where he graduated with the highest distinctions in 2013. He then joined the New England Conservatory in Boston where, thanks to a full Merit award granted by the Florence Gould Foundation, he perfected his skills with Miriam Fried and graduated on the dean’s honours list with distinction, obtaining a Soloist Master and a Graduate Diploma. In 2016, he was granted an artistic residency at the Fondation des Etats-Unis in Paris where he founded the chamber music Ensemble Aletheia, a collaborative group designed to promote the integration of musicians who, like him, come from abroad. Léo is currently preparing a contemporary DAI at CNSMDP with Hae Sun Kang and, in parallel, a second Research Masters at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in September 2017 in Philippe Graffin’s class. “A creative, thinking musician, Marillier is surely destined to become a major artist of our time”, according to the press during a tour in Lithuania. Léo was invited as a soloist at the age of 13 by the Wiener Concert Verein, Danish National Youth Orchestra, LOH Orchestra, Orchestre InterUniversitaire de Paris, Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra, Eureka Orchestra, performing under conductors such as Thomas Rösner, in Germany, France, Denmark, Lithuania, USA. First Prize and Special Prize Mozart 8th Dvarionas Competition where he holds the record of being the youngest winner. He also received the Honorary Bellan Prize in 2013, First Prize at the 6th Marschner Competition, as well as the Special Tchaikovsky Prize (Junior) in Seoul.
Born in Japan, 29 years old Takuya Otaki studied at Aichi University (Japan) with Yuzo Kakeya and Vadim Sakharov and won several prizes in international piano competitions (Kuwabara, Best Student Price and Niwapromotion). After his classical training, he turned to a contemporary repertoire and entered the Musikhochschule Stuttgart in Thomas Hell’s class in 2013, where he followed a Piano Masters degree specialized in Contemporary Music. In 2016, he pursued his studies with a Contemporary Music Masters at the International Ensemble Modern Academy (Frankfurt). In February 2016, Takuya Otaki won First Prize at the 12th edition of Orléans International Piano Competition (Prix Mention Spéciale Blanche Selva, Prix Mention Spéciale Olivier Greif, Prix Mention Spéciale Maurice Ohana). In 2016 he began a series of concerts in Italy (Milan, Parma), in Japan (Niigata, Nagaoka, Nagoya…) and in France (Metz, Orléans, Reims). In spring 2017, he performed in Paris, before taking part in festivals in Lille and in Mantua (Italy). For the 2016/17 season, he was the solo pianist of the prestigious International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt. In July 2017, Takuya Otaki recorded his first CD ‘Belà Bartók et la virtuosité’ with Fy Solstice. In November 2017, he held a concert and a masterclass tour in 9 towns in the Centre-Val de Loire Region. He then performed in Italy and Bulgaria in December 2017.
