The ateliers henry dougier, in partnership with the Fondation des Etats-Unis, cordially invite you to a conference exploring the last fifty years of US history thanks to the testimonies of ten emblematic American figures. Maurin Picard, the author of Métamorphoses des Etats-Unis, will act as spokesperson for these personalities.
In this book, each major event is commented on by a well-known narrator who experienced or participated in it. These narrators include John Lewis, member of the civil rights movement and one of Martin Luther King’s close friends; Dan Rather, journalist for CBS during the raging Vietnam War; Sarah Weddington, a voluble lawyer who fought for women’s emancipation and the legalization of abortion; Leon Panetta, ex-director of the CIA; Leonard Kleinrock, one of the gentlemen scholars who were at the origins of Internet; John Rizzo, who had a leading role after the 2001 attacks; David Petraeus, who led the American troops in Afghanistan, and Patrick Egan, professor at New York University and specialist of the LGBT movement. The conference will be followed by a cocktail and book signing.
