Virtuoso pianist, internationally celebrated composer, conductor and arranger, Roger Boutry was born on February 27, 1932 in Paris. He was admitted to the National Conservatory of Music in 1944, where over the next decade he won first prizes in piano, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, chamber music, piano accompaniment and composition, studies crowned with the coveted Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1954. Having performed with and conducted many orchestras all around the world, Boutry served as Professor of Harmony at the Paris Conservatory from 1962 to 1997, he was Music Director of the Orchestras of the Garde Républicaine from 1973 to 1997. As composer, he has written many works for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, as well as for large symphonic and wind ensembles. Among his awards are the Grand Prix Musical de la Ville de Paris, the Prix Georges Bizet de l’Académie des Beaux Arts, the Grand Prix de la Promotion Symphonique de la SACEM, Prix de la Fondation Pineau-Chaillou, and the Médaille de vermeil de la Ville de Paris…
Laura Bennett Cameron is a Senior Lecturer of Music Theory at the University of Texas-Arlington, and is the principal bassoonist of the Dallas Wind Symphony. An active soloist, ensemble musician, and researcher, Dr. Bennett Cameron served as principal of the Bloomington Camerata for three seasons, and has also played with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, the Discovery Ensemble, and the A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra, among others. In addition to winning the 2009 Boston Woodwind Society Competition, she has performed solos with orchestras in Texas and Indiana, and has recently recorded an album music for piano and bassoon with master composer and pianist Roger Boutry. Ms. Bennett Cameron holds a Doctor of Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she served as an Associate Instructor, with concentrations in Music Theory and Early Music. She holds a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music from West Texas A&M University.
Currently the assistant professor of flute at the University of Kansas, Dr. Sarah Frisof completed her doctoral work at the University of Michigan. Dr. Frisof also received degrees from the Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music. She was a semi-finalist in the 2009 Kobe International Flute Competition, and the 2nd prizewinner of the National FluteAssociations’s Young Artist Competition and the Heida Hermanns International Woodwind Competition. Dr. Frisof has attended the Verbier, Tanglewood, Pacific, and Aspen Music Festivals, and she has substituted with the Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony, Boston Symphony, and Fort Worth Symphony. Sarah Frisof serves as principal flute with the Dallas Wind Symphony and she plays frequently with the Dallas Symphony. Each Summer, Ms. Frisof plays in the Gesher Festival of Emerging Artists( St. Louis) as well as Music in the Mountains ( Durango, CO).As a teacher, Dr. Frisof has maintained a private studio for over 15 years, and she served as the graduate assistant at the University of Michigan. Her interests in outreach and education have taken her to Zimbabwe and Brazil, where she ran music programs and participated in humanitarian work.
