The next Rendez-Vous Musical will take place on May 8 in the Grand Salon. The musicians in residence and Harriet Hale Woolley scholars will perform a diverse program of classical music by Brahms, new instrumental compositions by Tom Gurin and Simon Frisch, and a selection of popular songs.
These concerts, which are an opportunity for the musicians to perform works they are studying or creating, are renowned for their open and friendly atmosphere. Members of audience, delighted to (re)discover classical, contemporary, and new works, often stay behind to talk with the musicians. The musicians take great pleasure in these exchanges, always speaking about music and their specific disciplines with great passion.

The Resident Composers
Composer Tom Gurin is a Fulbright-Harriet Hale Woolley Award recipient. He is a graduate of Yale University, where he earned a degree with honors in music composition and received the Paul H. and Brigitte P. Fry Award for excellence in the arts. His music has been featured at highSCORE New Music Festival in Pavia (Italy); at the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival at the Mannes School of Music in New York City; at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp; and more. The National Youth Orchestra of China, the Yale Symphony Orchestra, and other ensembles have premiered his works. He is a former United States Fellow of the Belgian American Educational Foundation and holds an artist diploma from the Belgian Royal Carillon School. Recent honors include premieres through the Sonus Foundation in Budapest; Campanae Lovanienses in Leuven; and the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America, who awarded him a 2021 Johan Franco Composition Award. He currently studies composition at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
Simon Frisch is a composer and recipient of a 2020-2021 Fulbright-Harriet Hale Woolley Fellowship. During his residency at the Fondation des États-Unis, he aims to compose a song cycle for period instruments that explores the cultural legacy of Anne de Bretagne, Queen of France from 1491 to 1514. He is also a resident scholar at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique where he is studying the politics of musical practice at the court of Anne de Bretagne. Some of his recent projects include The Body Untied for soloists and baroque chamber orchestra (presented in New York by, among others, Région Bretagne, and Lightbox Gallery in collaboration with multimedia artist Rachel Libeskind), and Sandglass Vespers for chamber orchestra presented at Alice Tully Hall (with Joel Sachs and the New Juilliard Ensemble), as part of residencies and studies at the Banff Arts Centre and Wildacres. An advocate for mediation and emerging creative voices in music, Simon has organized a series of summer chamber music concerts in the Ille-et-Vilaine/Côtes-d’Armor regions of Bretagne, programming dozens of European and world premieres by various young composers in collaboration with local non-profit organizations. These concerts, praised by Le Télégramme, Ouest France and Bretagne Actuelle, have promoted creative and cultural heritage projects in many disciplines, including architecture and sculpture. He is currently a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at the Juilliard School, where he completed his graduate degree with Robert Beaser.
The Resident Musicians
Canadian soprano Solange Adamson is a Harriet Hale Woolley Scholar and a student at the École Normale de Paris. She performs regularly in concerts at the Fondation des États-Unis and Salle Cortot and has recently sung at the Vienna Volksliedwerk and the Centennial Festival of the American Schools of the Arts in Fontainebleau. Her performances include the Abbess in Puccini’s Suor Angelica with the Center for Opera Studies in Italy, Dardano in Handel’s Amadigi with Opera UCLA, Michaela in Carmen at the École Normale de Musique, and the world premieres of Juana by Carla Lucero and The Emperor’s New Clothes by Nicki Sohn. Solange is a graduate of ENMP and UCLA where she studied with Olga Toporkova and Vladimir Chernov.
Alessandra Gianino is a versatile singer and pianist whose styles ranges from pop to musical theatre, to even jazz. She has toured with several groups (The Hundred Voices of Gospel, The SoCal VoCals a cappella) and has performed at notable venues such as the Palais des Sports, the Beacon Theatre, Universal Studios, and the White House. She is currently performing in Paris with a rock band and as a solo artist.
Dhyani Heath enjoys a versatile musical career with solo, chamber music, and orchestral performances worldwide. From early music performances on historical instruments through collaborations with contemporary composers, Ms. Heath strives to reach artistic beauty and harmony, exploring the full sound spectrum of the violin.
Ms. Heath started her violin studies at the tender age of 7 with Pavel Feldman in Montreal, Canada. At the age of 16 she and her family relocated to Salzburg (Austria) as she was invited to study with the famous pedagogue Igor Ozim at the Mozarteum University. She holds a master’s degree in Violin Performance from Yale University, where she was a recipient of the Denis Adams Scholarship, the Phipps White Scholarship, and the Broadus Earle prize for “outstanding violinists” while studying with Hyo Kang. She also holds a second master’s degree in Violin Performance from the Paris Conservatoire, under the tutelage of Professor Michael Hentz.
During her years as a student Ms. Heath furthered her musical experiences by taking part in several international music festivals, including the International Mozarteum Summer Academy (Austria), the Music Academy of the West (USA), the Vermont Mozart Festival (USA), and the Encuentro de Música Festival in Santander (Spain), to name a few.
Fluent in five languages (English, German, French, Chinese, and Indonesian), Ms. Heath also enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for music with serious violin students of all ages and nationalities. Her teaching philosophy focuses on guiding students through the technical and interpretative principles of violin playing, while allowing them to develop individually into their own sense of style and expression.
Upcoming and past performances include concerts in France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Canada, and the United States. Ms. Heath currently lives in Paris as a Harriet Hale Woolley scholar.
Born in Boston and raised in Bucharest, Edgar Jaber is currently finalizing a master’s degree in Mathematics and Engineering at CentraleSupélec/Université Paris-Saclay.
He is a pupil of the Romanian pianists Toma Popovici and Viorica Rădoi at the National University of Music in Bucharest. His repertoire focuses mainly on classical and romantic german composers as well as early XXth century modernism.
The Guest Musician
Pianist Beatriz Guerrero began her studies at the Conservatory of Music in Celaya, Mexico. She has since performed in a large variety of repertoire both as a solo pianist and as an accompanist. She has collaborated with the National Opera Company of Fine Arts in Mexico, the State University of Guanajuato and the Superior School of Music and Dance of Mexico. She is currently studying piano accompaniment at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
