For the third Printempo concert, Thomaz Tavares Paes will present the repertoire that he will be performing at an upcoming competition in Paris, accompanied by pianist Qiaochu Li.
“The Mozart Rondo is a light elegant piece from the classical period which epitomizes Mozart’s gracious style. The Nielsen Flute concerto is a monster of a piece composed in the post romantic style: it is a constant battle between the flute and the orchestra, as well as a continuous attempt to reach Nielsen’s bucolic Arcadia. Panic flirt is a contemporary piece from the 90’s that utilizes an array of extended techniques to explore the relationship between the flutists’ archetypal figure “Pan” and the emotional state of a panicked flutist. To finish off the program I’ve chosen a gorgeous operatic fantasy based on themes from the opera comique Mignon by Ambroise Thomas.” -Thomaz Tavares Paes
