Since 2016, the FEU has started organizing an informal lunchtime concert on July 4. This short concert (approximately 30 minutes) provides a lovely opportunity to bring together our audience, residents and staff from the Cité before the summer break. This year, the concert will be given by John Kamfonas, our pianist-in-residence, who will play a composition by Gershwin and festive improvisations.
Embracing his penchant for improvisation alongside his passion for the classical and contemporary repertoire, the pianist John Kamfonas has given performances around the world, from Italy to India, Beijing to New York, which have been described as possessing « a grandeur that lifted the music into the sublime…and a delicacy that took one’s breath away. » He was Harriet Hale Wooley scholarship in 2015-2016. John is currently a musician in residence at the Fondation des Etats-Unis and is pursuing a graduate diploma at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris under the guidance of Marian Rybicki and Jean Fassina.
The interns and residents will organize a light lunch in the garden. The €5 lunch menu will include wraps of your choice (chicken, cheese or vegetarian) with a drink and a dessert; all proceeds will go to the FEU residents’ communal garden.
