Black(ness) is Beautiful is an exhibition of new works by Alteronce Gumby (artist in residence, Harriet Hale Woolley scholar) presented at the Fondation des Etats-Unis, Paris. In this series of abstract paintings Gumby uses dark shades of color to represent the state of black(ness) within a painting. This body of work is a reflection on African-American culture, the history of tonal painting and the perspective of the color black as an amalgamation.
