Come enjoy a performance by Althea Dance Company as part of their workshop and one-week artistic residency at FEU! Several pieces will be presented, all differing in styles and atmospheres. You will have the opportunity to see some repertory work, as well as new creations. The participants of the workshop taking place at the FEU from July 30th to August 5th will perform one piece that evening. Althea Dance focuses on international collaboration with various types of artists such as writers, musicians, painters and visual artists. The company explores new ways of sharing dance with the audience and how to reach to people who may not be familiar with the contemporary dance scene. About the Artists
Thea Bautista is a French, Mexican and American dancer and choreographer and founder of Althea Dance Company. She started dancing in Paris and decided to move to New York in 2014. She studied music and dance for 10 years at the Maurice Ravel conservatory in Paris and graduated from the Peridance Capezio Center in New York in June 2016. In France, Thea danced for the Ballet Ethéry Pagava and for the Corps à Sons ensemble. More recently she worked on several projects with renowned choreographers such as Charlotta Öfverholm, Milton Myers, Ronald K. Brown, Catherina Rago, Shawn Bible and with companies such as Oniin Dance Company.
Sarah Le Guenno is a contemporary dancer from Brittany, France. She started ballet at the age of 4 at Valerie Martie Dance school and explored other techniques such as modern jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, at the Ecole de Danse Martine Gicquello. Sarah performed in musicals and competitions for the CND. She also joined the association A Portée de Choeur where she danced and choreographed various pieces, raising funds for the Resto du Coeur charity. At 18 Sarah went to London and trained at Danceworks Studio. In 2015 Sarah moved to New York to follow a professional program at Peridance Capezio Center and worked and performed with various companies and choreographers such as Oniin Dance Company, BS Mouvment, Catherina Rago, Jackie Nowiki and Igal Perry.
Logan Pedon began his dance training at the age of 13 in a small studio in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated in 2016 from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase where he performed work by choreographers Shannon Gillen Alexandra Beller, Ori Flomin, Madboots, Kimberly Bartosik and Greg Dolbashian. Outside of school he has performed work set by the Cunningham Trust, Dylan Crossman, Second Best, the Dive collective and Christopher Williams. He is currently dancing for Althea Dance Company and Cornfield Dance Company in New York City.
Nikki Ervice began her dance training in her hometown of Homer, Alaska. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a BFA in dance in 2014. Since moving to New York she has worked with Rocha Dance Theatre, Emotions Physical Theatre, Jennifer Archibald’s Arch Dance Company and Safety Third Productions among others.
Jovansky Castañeda is a Mexican dancer, who started exploring dance at a very early age. Jovansky trained in the “Sociedades Virtuales” theater collective, where he studied the Barba, Grotowski, Butoh and el Parkour techniques. He then studied in Morelos (Mexico) where he was in charge of the project “Detrasdeunomismo”, which aims to promote individual development. During that time, he had the opportunity to present 5 solos in Morelos, Veracruz and Mexico City. Jovanski worked with several companies including Apoc Apoc, VSS cia, Barro rojo, ¿y donde están los tramoyas? and won several prizes as solo dancer. Today, Jovanski is at the head of the “Mucho Movimiento” project that mixes dance with tricking, capoeira and acrobatics.
