To kick off the new Printempo season, Edgar Jaber – both a doctoral student in mathematics and pianist – invites you to embark on a musical journey on the theme of Romanticism. In residence at the FEU since 3 years, Edgar has been actively involved in the FEU’s cultural program and cultural life on campus.
In the history of ideas, Romanticism marks a shift in perception and thought that is still felt to this day. This impact is not only artistic but also philosophical and social. In this concert-conference we embark on a journey to gain a better understanding of the insights of this boiling period. With the help of musical examples – which most romantics considered to be the absolute mean of expression of the Romantic ideal – from Chopin, Liszt, Brahms & more, we will alternate between historical events and philosophical ideas as well as explore the different musical innovations and disputes of the time.
