Meet Nelly
Nelly Feillant is an artist and doctoral student studying the relationship of humans to their own image, and the tension between the physical body and the mind through her pastel paintings. From a young age, she showed a strong interest in drawing, which later pushed her to pursue artistic studies at the Ecole des Arts de la Sorbonne in Paris in 2018. There, Nelly refined her soft pastel technique, using it in a way that falls at the cusp between drawing and painting. She then shared this passion for the exploration of artistic mediums by giving lessons on “awakening to the arts” to kindergarten and primary school students at the Chardin bilingual school in Paris. In 2023, thanks to the Master in Arts and Vision program at the Université de Paris I—Panthéon Sorbonne she was able to do an exchange in New York, where she discovered the city’s contemporary art scene. Upon return from this trip, she started her doctoral thesis, “To Exist in Sensory Spaces: Human Representation as a Means of Expressing the Non-Verbal.”
