Meet e.i.MO

e.i.MO has always been captivated by shapes and colors, a visual language she has nurtured since childhood. After a successful career in business, including earning an Executive MBA from ESCP Europe, she returned to her true passion: art. She holds a BFA and a master in Arts and Vision with high honors from the École des Arts de la Sorbonne. She then deepened her practice at Columbia University School of the Arts, leading her to collaborate with the renowned painter David Headley, celebrated for his monumental works. For four years, she worked closely with him as both a student and assistant, benefiting from his expertise in contemporary art in New York. Shaped by her family’s exiled past, e.i.MO creates “musical” paintings that explore history, memory, and power dynamics while advocating for universality, harmony, and unity. Currently pursuing a PhD at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne under the guidance of Yann Toma, her research focuses on censorship in art and the political, social, and cultural forces that shape artistic expression, as well as the self-censorship that often restrains artists. At the Fondation des États-Unis, she plans to create collaborative artwork with fellow artists in residents on themes of peace and inclusion, aligning with the values of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris.
