From November 3rd to 28th 2021, the FEU is pleased to welcome you for the collective exhibition “Would do Again”, where six artists in residence will show artworks they have been working on this year. With varied perspectives and diversity of techniques and media, this contemporary exposition mixes multidisciplinary techniques, such as film, animation, photography, illustration, painting and writing. The theme that ties all the work together is the idea that the phrase “Would do Again” is related to each artist continuing on an artistic path. Each of the seven artists has their own vision of developing a body of work. After many months living in the FEU, sharing social and creative spaces, exploring and experiencing the city life, these artists have come together for putting on a five-stars-showcase.A panel of both international and French young artists, all of which try to embody the experience of reality and fantasy, and the duality of life abroad, despite each of them belonging to a different fields of art and have their own style reflected into their pieces. Annette G. Parra, Arthur Haywood, Timothée Lambert, Libéral Martin, Mallory Mayhew and Anahita Navaei invite you to discover the world as they see it.
Leaving FEU, take a stroll through the Cité internationale campus to visit the other houses taking part in Art-Hop-Polis.

About the artists
Annette Gonzalez Parra. Venezuelan photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in Paris since 2016. Annette grew up in Caracas, the city of eternal spring, and moved to France to expand her horizons as an artist and gain professional experience in the European capital of movies. With a career in Media Communication and a Masters in Film Studies, she is currently making doing a Masters in Preservation of Audiovisual and Film Heritage. Her artistic work comes with a very emotional charge, feeding mostly from nostalgia and memories. She has explored many possibilities of artistic expression including poetry, performance, video art, painting, and her principal activity, photography. In 2020 during the lockdown, she decided to explore combining photography and painting. She loves the idea of mixing two mediums to create something new.
Arthur Haywood’s work celebrates the wonder of stories. His paintings are seen on murals for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, Sprocket Mural Festival, his book “The Great Library” and Space and Time Magazine. He exhibits his paintings in New York and Pennsylvania and completes commissions. He is focused on captivating Science Fiction and Fantasy stories. Creating murals and illustrations to inspire others and engage youth in reading is his passion. He is focused on making murals for libraries and schools in addition to book covers. He earned a B.F.A in Illustration from The Maryland Institute College of Art, before furthering his study of classical drawing and painting at Cambridge Street Studios in Philadelphia and Grand Central Atelier in New York. He wrote and illustrated a book about scholars from the ancient library of Alexandria. He is a recipient of the 2020-2021 Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris. From Fall 2020 through Spring 2021 he developed murals to inspire a love of learning and cultural appreciation. He worked with students at Lycée Paul Lapie to create murals depicting diverse people reading and the stories that have engaged them.
Born in 1997, Timothée Lambert began his artistic studies in thepreparatory class of ENSBA Lyon, before starting at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. After photography and stage design, he went back to his childhood obsession: drawings, stories, and lettering. His current works are taken and composed from diaries, impulsive ideas, in order to become comfortable with them and to create intimacy with the reader.
Libéral Martin lives and works in Paris. He enters the ENSAD in 2014 where he followed a cursus in Animation movies. Between 2015 and 2016 he directes two first shorts, Destinations in Querelles de clochers willing to merge music and animated images. Those experiments would lead him to other multi-technic short-films, Willem Van Haechtand, VERTE OFF in 2016 and also Fake 48-6 in 2017 on animation stage. He goes further with his research on synesthesia in his thesis : Du mouvement musical à l’image in which he presents the variety of connections between music and images in cinema and in animation. In 2018 he integrates the community of artist residents at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris. In June 2020 he completes his last animation short The Mecanorgans.
Mallory Mayhew is an illustrator and graphic designer originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and has lived in Paris since 2017. She has her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. She enjoys exploring Paris and learning everything the city has to offer. Inspired by the sights of Paris, Mallory often paints the city of light, trying to capture the magic and energy unique to the city. Through her collage work and illustrations, she explores the feelings of belonging to multiple places at once and wrestling with multiple identities. Combining imagery and life experiences from France and the United States, she works through the duality of life abroad.
Anahita Navaei is a filmmaker and visual artist. After a degree in law and art history, she directed her first film, Iran è man, produced by the G.R.E.C and the University of Corsica. In 2020, she directed Nahid and Sepideh, her University Paris 8 graduation film, released at the Festival des 168 Heures. In December 2021, Anahita will be a resident at Villa Ndar, the French Institute of Saint-Louis in Senegal, where she will shoot her third film, combining animation and live action. Anahita Navaei is currently an artist in residence at the Fondation des États-Unis where she is working on her first animation project in her studio.
